Reading from a script makes the presenter seem:

  • unprepared
  • unprofessional
  • inflexible

Reading (a lot) from the slides wastes the audience’s time:

  • Audience reads faster (silent) than presenter (aloud)
  • Slides should not have large blocks of text

Today’s English recommends: focus on structure, rather than memorization. Use notes on your slides as a guide, or use techniques to organize your presentation, then use your own knowledge to fill in details.
